No maps displayed as guest user.

    Hello,

I have just upgraded from 1.6 to 1.8 and everything seems to have gone off without a hitch. The only strange thing I have noticed is that maps do not display for guest users. At first I thought this may be a permissions issue but the guest user has read access to all hosts. This is reflected in the fact the guest user can see all the screens (ones without maps) and all the graphs for the various hosts. I should not there is not error generated when going to the maps tab as users it just simply displays "No maps defined".

Anyone have any thoughts on what might be causing this or what I might be doing wrong?

We have the same issue. Trying to track down the permissions problem also showed that the default included screen for 'Zabbix Server' also threw a permission denied for both Guest and Zabbix Admin level users, all other screens are fine. Bumping users up to Zabbix Super Admin allowed users to see maps, screens with maps on them and access the 'Zabbix Server.'

I'd rather not continue to run like this.

      Workaround for guest map access.

      Hey SMB,

I have gotten around this as well but adding the guest user to the Zabbix Admin group. I would really not like to continue running like this as it is a security risk. What I did in the mean time is copy and mod the web front end to not show the config and admin tabs. Then in Apache I have two virtual host, one to the regular front end for admins and one to the moded front end for joe users. This still is not ideal though.

        This is weird...

I have Zabbix 1.8 and guest user can see all maps.
        My setup is:
        • guest user is in Guests group
        • Guests group has readonly access to ALL host groups

Maybe your Guests group is not correctly configured.
If guest don't have acccess to a single item in a map, nothing will be displayed.

        Regards,

Same problem for me. It's a new install, not an upgrade,.
          - Guest user is in the Guests group
          - Guests group has readonly access to all host groups (and hosts).

I did not have any problems with maps with old releases.

access to maps for guess user OK with a Zabbix Pre release

I found a solution : I have installed all files from Pre-1.8x revision 9387 frontend in another directory and it's OK now with the Guess user, he can see all maps (but now I have other problems, so it's not really good solution). I hope zabbix 1.8.1 will correct this bug soon.
My zabbix is on aCentOS release 5.4 (PHP 5.2.11, mysql Ver 14.12 Distrib 5.0.86)

You might try deleting and recreating the Guests group. Worked for me on 1.8.1
edit: at least it works in safari, Fx doesn't seem to work when i only use an img-tag for including a map.
