Windows Eventlog to Zabbix, is this a bug?

I've been strugling for several months (on and off) to make windows eventlog been sent to zabbix-server without any success, until I changed the name of the host in the php frontend to be the same as the dns name.

Why is this necessary? Isn't the dns name what would be THE reference name?

Example: I had a host called "DC-M" with "dc-m" as the dns name. Eventlog started to come in when I changed the name from "DC-M" to "dc-m". This makes no sense to me. What if in the frontend I wanted to name the host "Domain Controller" instead?

So, it makes me wondering... is this a bug?

Zabbix is a case sensitive product. if you plan on using Zabbix Agent (Active) items, you will also need an exact match for the hostname in the frontend as in the zabbix_agentd.conf

If you want that host to be called 'Domain Controller', then go to the host and make that the name in zabbix_agentd.conf, restart the zabbix service and put that name in the frontend as well.

I don't do much with logs, but maybe like Active agent items, it also relies on the hostname matching. Then again, all my hostnames match anyway.
