Hello,
I just upgraded to 1.8, from the 1.6 distro version found in the debian package.
DB update worked, compiling the binaries worked, the frontend is running, everything "seems" to be fine...but:
The server recieves no new values whatsoever.
Web tests no longer work.
Passive tests (snmp / ping) no longer work.
Basically, the frontend is running, but it seems the server has problems.
When I fire up the server-binaries, the following appears in the log:
The server processes keep running and appear in top, but nothing happens.
Both the snmp_build and the config-warnung bug me.
First: in my config file, there is no CacheSize parameter. Do I have an outdated config file?
Second: the snmp-errors, do they stop the server from running?
Third: 4329:20100204:144440.803 One child process died (PID:4331). Exiting ... <= Does this mean the whole server exits? The processes themselves keep running.
Fourth: No log handling enabled - turning on stderr logging <= Where do I enable this?
These four points lead me to the conclusion that somehow, something went wrong with the update on the server part.
I searched the forum but couldn't find a similar case.
Does anybody have a tip for me? I actually don't want to revert the installation back to 1.6
best regards and thanks in advance
