Host not reported in Maintenance period on Trigger page

I setup a a host to be in a maintenance period, stopped the agent on the host. Unfortunately the "Triggers" page doesn't report it being down for a maintenance period. Instead, it reports it with the standard "Server unreachable" trigger. The Zabbix documentation says that the trigger page should report a active maintenance period (second image below) along side the trigger that is active. Did I missing something?

your maintenance config screenshot does not show everything. note that global period and periods below it must overlap for maintenance to have any effect

OK, I got it to work, but I have to say that's difficult to figure out. Setting up a "Maintenance period" and then a maintenance window within that period seems like that an extra step. --like writing a check, cashing it and then depositing the cash into another account.

If I'm missing the purpose of that section, please let me know.
