recover from a mysql dump produces errors

    Greetings.

Our beloved zabbix system (1.4.2 , i know.. but we had other things to do) had DB failure lastnight and I rebuilt a new mysql server, pushing the nightly dump into the new DB, reconnect the front end and ..

well where do I start? At the moment I've reverted to the post install schema and data push trying to see why nothing works.

here i get a hung web server and a response of
    4292:20100317:145716 Query failed:Unknown column 'h.dns' in 'field list' [1054]

If I push the dump into the DB things get even worse. shouldn't I be able to reconnect the front end to a clean DB from the original install (we had everything on the host)

redownloaded 1.4.2 and discovered the frontend/create files are NOT the ones I should be using.

got frontend working with clean DB following
reinserting dumpd data now. still seeing issues

now front end doesn't accept logins and reports
Error in query [select n.nodeid,min(r.permission) as permission, g.userid from nodes n left join rights r on r.id=n.nodeid and r.type=0 left join users_groups g on r.groupid=g.usrgrpid and g.userid=1 where n.nodeid in (0) group by n.nodeid, g.userid order by nodeid desc, userid desc, permission desc] [Unknown column 'r.type' in 'on clause']
mysql_fetch_array(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource[/var/www/html/zabbix142/include/db.inc.php:411]
