    Timeout while connecting to [xx.xx.xx.xx:161]

    Hello !

I've suceed for monitoring Windows & Linux hosts (thx to zabbix agent) but I've a problem for monitoring a switch cisco 2960.

On configuration / hosts, I've this error for my switch :

    Timeout while connecting to [xx.xx.xx.xx:161]
    =>

It cannot connect to 161 port so.

    But :
Ping between the linux zabbix to the switch is ok
Cacti monitore this switch on this port without problem
    The community is correct.

Other screenshots of my configuration :

Sadly the timeout error is very ambiguous. For me it's often because the switch is either in a different community or that it doesn't allow SNMP from that specific server. Try it from the command-line and see what result you get. It may be more helpful for troubleshooting (even if the error messages may not be any better).

Something like this should work at a basic level:

    snmpwalk -c {YOUR SNMP COMMUNITY} {IP OF SERVER} 1

    Hope that helps.

      It is curious.

The result of your command is timeout.
But it's ok with snmpwalk -c mycommunity -v2c.

Later, I've delete the template and finally the problem was resolve !

      Thank you wax66
