can Agentless monitoring pull HD space/RAM free, etc...

    Hi all,

I have 1.8.2 running on a RHEL 5.3 x86_64 box. I enabled the agent on the localhost(running the server), and it populates the web interface. I get the information such as disc space free, ssh up, etc...

I also have a discovery rule running for a vlan of 172.30.110.1-254.
I see that in the "monitoring>discovery" tab, where it has found some hosts, and is giving the green square for "ICMP Ping, and SSH".

These servers are not running zabbix agents. Do they have to run zabbix agents in order to pull down disc space, memory, etc?

    Thank you!

Generally, yes. Unless you're running another information source on the target, such as SNMP. If you're really good with SNMP and have access to the agents on those machines, you can pull all sorts of things like disk space, etc.

But to get the information in the easiest way possible (my recommendation), install the agent.

I was just reading that you can also use SSH to pull the information down.

Funny thing, it doesn't really go in any details in the documentation.

Has anyone seen where that documentation is, on how to set up the ssh connections for monitoring?

      thnks for you answers!

        http://www.zabbix.com/documentation/...ems#ssh_checks

Basically, you send a command via ssh. If you go to 'Add Item' on a host, you can see what info it requires if you change Type to SSH agent.

You may have to do some UNIX magic to cut/awk/grep the information you want out of whatever command you run.
