Pre-requisites fails: PHP Databases, GD Version, Image formats

    Hello,

    I am quite beginner.

I've tried to set-up zabbix (server and agent) on my Ubuntu Linux Desktop 8.04 LTS to get familiar with the software. All the installation process were smooth (no matter if carried out with the packages from repositories or by compiling the sources).

The problem starts at "Check of pre-requisites" after starting http://localhost/zabbix/ and is:
    PHP Databases support: No Fail
    GD Version: No Fail
    Image formats: No Fail
    (rest is OK)

Fails come no matter if I install from Ubuntu repositories packages - old version 1.4.2, or compile sources: i.e. version 1.6.5 acc. to this guide http://www.zabbix.com/wiki/howto/ins.../ubuntuinstall )

    Basic informations on the installations: Ubuntu 8.04.4 LTS, appache2 (2.2.8-1), mysql-server (5.0.51a), php5 (5.2.4-2) + as far as I am concerned all necessary or suggested packages including: php5-mysql (5.2.4-2), php-gd (5.2.4-2), libapache2-mod-php5 (5.2.4-2) etc etc...

Regards and thanks in advance for any help. I will answer any questions quickly.

i'd suggest trying latest 1.8 - it will also display required and found versions of libs, in case that's the problem.
you can also create a new php file with the following content, call it and check whether it lists those features as available.
    Code:
    <?php phpinfo(); ?>
    Zabbix 3.0 Network Monitoring book

      Hello,

Thank you for the response. After displaying php test file, there was no section concerning MySQL. I've made stupid mistake, I forgot to comment out the line 'extension=mysql.so' in the php.ini file

Now it's all fine, in the meantime I've switched to 1.8.1. No problems so far.

      Regards
      Pawel
