    Zabbix server down

    Hi Guys

Ok, I've been attempting to play around with Zabbix for a few weeks, but I keep running into exactly the same issue every time. I've reinstalled Ubuntu and Zabbix, but the same problem pops up, so I'm hoping someone here can assist me.

Initial installation runs fine after changing the required settings in the php.ini file. However, if I restart the machine, the Zabbix Server log file always gives this error

[Z3001] Connection to database 'zabbix' failed: [2003] Can't connect to MySQL server on '127.0.0.1' (111)

I made no configuration changes from the initial install, so I don't understand why it cannot connect. I think I'm missing something really simple, but for the life of me I cannot fix it.

    Any ideas?

    I got that messages too.

Yo can solve it restarting the mysql daemon.

You can see the zabbix log int /tmp too.

Ok, it works if I stop both MySQL and Zabbix and then restart them. Is there no way around this? Because it is a test server it gets restarted a few times per day, so having to go in and stop and start the service is a bit of a pain.

I never even thought of stopping and starting the services, knew it was something small I was forgetting

Thanks for the assistance so far.

you can use monit, to monitor zabbix daemon and when it detects the zabbix daemon stops monit restart both daemons (mysql and zabbix)

        It could be a solution.
