status up/down device cisco

Hi

i want to monitore only the status up or down of device cisco.

im not interested about traffic/flow

how can i do it?

First you need to enable snmp-server in your cisco device.

You can use ifOperStatus
OID = .1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.8.<port>

e.g .1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.8.10101

without able snmp on device cisco, there is not other method to know the status of router cisco ? for example with
some ping to router cisco ?

icmp ping

You could just use a simple check and ping it to see if it's accessible..

icmpping[<ip>,<count>,<interval>,<size>,<timeout>]
