MySQL library not found during config stage

hey guys,

understand that this qns is being raised before. However i've not come across a solution that is working for me yet.

Am i trying to install zabbix1.8.2 on a REL5 machine. But so far, i keep coming across this, and im using this mySQL. I have the below installed. please enlighten me on what im missing. TIA, appreciate some help.


MySQL-client-community-5.1.46-1.rhel5
MySQL-server-community-5.1.46-1.rhel5


php-mysql-5.3.2-2.el5.remi
mysqlclient16-5.1.30-1.el5.remi

You need to install mysql-devel

Mr Ken, thanks for the reply, sorry, but can i use just about any version of the sql-devel? or it has to be the same as my MySQL-community that im using?

Not really sure about that. I just yum install.

This is what I have installed (not sure why mysql-devel is listed twice)

mysql-server-5.0.45-7.el5
mysql-5.0.45-7.el5
mysql-devel-5.0.45-7.el5
php-mysql-5.1.6-20.el5_2.1
mysql-5.0.45-7.el5
mysql-devel-5.0.45-7.el5

Hey mrKen,

No worries, i just installed the devel. which is of a different version. somehow the configuration goes past that portion. so i'll just give it a shot, if it poses to some issue afterwards i'll just update the entire thing to a newer version.

Now its giving me errors like no jabber and libcurl. i'll run through the same process; getting the libs installed and see if it works.

Libcurl not found???

Still trying to install zabbix.... now its saying that libcurl library is not found. any idea?


checking for curl-config... /usr/bin/curl-config
checking for the version of libcurl... 7.15.5
checking for libcurl >= version 7.13.1... yes
checking for main in -lcurl... no
configure: error: Not found libcurl library


Notice it says checking of libcurl version. which again, shows that it is installed already...so any advise on what libcurl library its referring to ?
