Play a Sound feature does not work

    Hello all,

I am trying out all the new features Zabbix 1.8.3 has to offer and I cannot get the play a sound feature in the GUI messaging to work. When I click play, no sound comes out. It does not matter which sound I select or if the sound is checked or not.

I may have missed something. Is there a library necessary for sound playback that we should have at compile time? I'm kinda stumped here...

    Thanks for any input!

Works(somewhat) in Firefox, Does not in Chrome and IE8

Ok I tested it in Chrome and in IE8 without success, I then installed Firefox 3.6.8 and the play button works (except when I select alarm_ok sound).

In Chrome, in the element inspector, I get a
    Code:
<input> is not allowed inside <tbody>. Inserting <input> before the <table> instead.
    error somewhere...

It probably works for Aly using his beloved IE6...

By default IE should play alarms, but in some configurations it doesn't due to it can't play sound by him self, IE opens Windows Media Player through activeX. If sound doesn't play, try to install QuickTime it should help for IE.

Chrome can't play wav files (but by specifications it should), others browsers should play without an issues. For chrome you'll probably need to convert audio files from wav to ogg.

Zabbix 2.4 also has problems with playing sounds, it works when I manually play it from settings but Zabbix he rarely plays sound with triggers. I have tried Chrome and Firefox (newest) on Linux and Widnows. How do I troubleshoot this?
