    zabbix_server doesn't start

    I'm trying to install ZABBIX 1.1beta4 on a server running RHEL ES 4.0 Update 2 with kernel 2.6.9-22 and MySQL 4.1.12-3 (RHEL rpm).

    The compilation of zabbix_server is OK but I can't start the zabbix_server process. It seems to hang at startup. There is no log in /tmp/zabbix_server.log while DebugLevel is set to 4

      it looks like zabbix_server does not have permission to log into mysql.

      verify that you can use the mysql client to connect to the zabbix database under mysql using the zabbix permissions. I think you will find that is where your problem is.
