    export/import missing

    Greetings!

I installed zabbix 1.8.1 on a server, and was stymied by the import bug. So I stopped working on that server to await a fix. Of course the fix came, but it took me a long time to get back to the server.

Today I upgraded to 1.8.3, and it all went smoothly.

Howeber the export/import tab is missing. I noticed that export/import was still in my history, so I accessed it from there, and I get a "ERROR: No permissions !" screen, instead of the correct export/import page.

So what is wrong? What do I need to do to fix this?

I remember that while running 1.8.1, I applied some patches purporting to fix the import bug, but those never worked. Presumably those should have been overwritten when I upgraded to 1.8.3, so those should not be the issue.

Does anyone have a clue as to what broke my export/import function? I would rather not have to start over, I work 12 hours a day, and there is precious little time for me to start this server over.... Help!

It was moved in 1.8.3 from it's won page to import/export buttons on the page of whatever you wanna export/import.

Yeah, I figured that out after spending all day installing a new zabbix server from scratch...

I did a lot of searches in the documentation, actually looking for the function having moved, and didn't find anything...

So I can guess how to export data from 1.8.3 to import back into 1.8.x... But what about exports from our older systems, like a 1.6.5? Can a mixed xml file be imported with any of the import links, or do I need to go back and export specific groups to fit within the limited scope of the new import buttons?

I can see why it is handy to split them up, but it seems more logical to leave is all in one place...

To answer my own question, it looks like the import function is the same, wherever you run it from.
