Cant use icmp with new host.

    Hello,

I'm using Zabbix for a will, i have an 1.6 version off ZABBIX (i know is a old version but it's work very well).

I have some netwok devices and some server in my configuration and everythings is good. But since some days when i add a new network device in my configuration and use icmp ping to check if is alive the status is unknow.

In a shell on the server i can ping the device.

    Thank's

Can you tell us how you're monitoring it, what the value for the item on that host is?

Are you using icmpping for the item?

Try changing your template, so the item is not "icmpping" but "icmpping[, , , ,]" (including the spaces between each comma).

If that does not work, enable debugging in your Zabbix server (change configfile & restart zabbix server), and monitor the output of the Zabbix server logs for any errors/warnings.

          Hello,

What do you mean by icmpping[, , , ,] ??? When i do this i have the folowwing error "not supported"

          It's very crazy !!!

I'm in 4 level debug in my sever configuration .

Can you be more explicit whit the item icmpping [, , , ,] ??

When i change the configuration, i have no message in the server log. Ex i just add a new device , who off course is in status unknow, but i have no message in my log

          Thanks

          Killa

Did you install & configure 'fping' as well, as defined in the zabbix server config?

See the 'ping' attachment to know what I mean, with the icmpping command.

              Thank's for you quick answer.

But i try your solution without success. I'm in 1.6 and the icmpping item seems not working like this.

What is your zabbix version ?

              Thank's
