Data not collected for linked templates

Hi,

We are using Zabbix-1.8.3 and have discovered a problem related to hosts linked to a template which is linked to a second template.

More details to try and explain:

Our host = 'Host1'
'Host1' is linked with a template named 'Citrix licensing server'
Template 'Citrix licensing server' is linked with 'Template citrix server'

The reason for doing it this way is so that items within the 'Citrix licensing server' template can inherit Applications defined within 'Template citrix server' - obviously If we created an application with the same name in each template and linked them individually to Host1, it would fail because of the duplicate Application name. An alternative would be to only have the Application required in one of the templates, Link them to Host1 individually and then edit the items on Host1 to use the required Application - I would rather not do it that way.

All the host / template linkage appears to work successfully and even when viewing the items of Host1 I can see that all the Applications / Triggers and Items from both linked templates appear in the list and do not show as unsupported, however when debugging the agent on Host1 I can see that the server never requests the items defined in 'Template citrix server' nor do they appear in the latest data for Host1.

What do your items look like, what kind of type are those?
Are you monitoring through a proxy?

items are active checks, that collect correctly when not used through a linked template

linked temlates have word for use for application, but when using them to add items it doesnt work.

the zabbix web front end shows the items against the host, but the agent debug show no mention of the items from the linked template.

its as if zabbix is asking for the items for thechost while the linked items still onpy have the template as its defining host, so its not seeing the items as needing to associated and thus collected for the host.

any devs have an answer for this problem?
