Zabbix Graph Question

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I can't seem to word my searches correctly to answer my questions.

So here is a screenshot of a Windows server "Processor Load (6D 49M)"



If you look closely there is a "Light Green" line at the bottom of the graph, with a "Light Red" line at the top. That area is filled with a "Tan" color. Inside that is the "Processor Load" with a "Dark Green" line.

So what does the Light Green, Light Red and Tan colors represent??? I see the same thing when I look at Disk space usage and other graphs, but I can't for the life of me figure out what that space is trying to tell me.

You have chosen "all" mode for "Processor load" item in your graph.
Zabbix is drawing:
- average value in green
- minimum value in light green
- maximum value in light red
- filled region between min and max in tan.

If you want a simple line, just change this mode.

can we change this for Latest Data, on the fly Graphs?

Are those values themselves averaged? As in,
avg: moving avg of avg
min : avg of the mins
max: avg of maxs

Can't understand in which situations this is useful..

No. graphs from Latest Data always use "All" mode.

I think that, when timescale is extended,
avg : avg of avg;
min : min of mins;
max : max of maxs.
But I am not sure, may be some Zabbix developer could confirm it.

It depends on what you want to see.
If you draw average value only, it will mask abnormal conditions.
For example, if you look at 'CPU load' average value on a day timescale, you may see short spikes that may be high enough to trigger alerts. On a month timescale, these spikes will disappear in average line; min/max envelope will still show the problem.

What explains the max&min zone moving up/down?
Why does the max&min area only get narrowed down to a dot at 05:00 and 07:00?

Hate to perform thread necromancy, but this is the closest I have found to anything addressing my issue. These functions don't seem to make sense. In my specific case I'm not dealing with CPU, I'm dealing with ink levels on printers. There is no relevance in this case to the available functions, it's an absolute value each time the item is recorded, there should be no average involved, and as such I want to see the real data on the chart. As is I get these bizarre anomalies where the ink goes back up which obviously should not be unless a new one is put in. In those cases (at least with toner on laser printers thus far) it does go back to the max, but these other small bumps just shouldn't be there. Additionally, the legend is confusing. I can see where min and max for the time shown is useful, but average is useless. Last we want. Having it show [avg] is also confusing. So in some ways this is more a plea for legend customization, but overall I'm looking for what I'm missing as far as charting REAL values, not doing fuzzy math and having ink levels treated like CPU load.

Any advice? Or is this just a limitation of the software?
