    Zabbix and apache server

Hello everybody, after following the installation procedure proposed by Zabbix 1.8 Installing Zabbix on Debian 5.0.3 from Source, I can no longer start up my apache server and have the following error:
Starting web server apache2apache2: Synthax error on line 278 of /etc/apache2/apache2.conf: Could not open configuration file /etc/apache2/conf.d/zabbix: No such file or directory
    failed
I do not know what to do

Well, it looks like /etc/apache2/conf.d/zabbix is missing.
Create the file (touch) or comment the referring line in your main apache config file.

This isn't really a zabbix problem

This does indicate you did something wrong with the configuration of apache though. Please check the documentation at the apache project to figure out what exactly.

    Good luck,
    With kind regards,

    Raymond

I'm sorry, but I think you made a mess of it.
Why did you make the zabbix config file a link to the apache config and then reference it inside that apache config?

I suggest you read up on basic apache configuration before stuff breaks and you need to start all over again.
        With kind regards,

        Raymond

          Whoops, my bad
I read over the directory the link is pointing to.

Can you see if the file /etc/zabbix/apache.conf exists?
          With kind regards,

          Raymond

ah, then that is the problem.

I've gone over http://www.zabbix.com/wiki/howto/ins...8_on_debian_50 but I cannot find instructions to setup the symbolic link you have made and the reference to it in your apache config.

I don't know how it got there, but I think you don't need it.
If you followed the wiki page correctly, Zabbix should now be the default page for your apache installation.

I suggest you remove the symbolic link and comment the referencing line in your apache config and try and start apache again.
              With kind regards,

              Raymond

See http://www.zabbix.com/documentation/...e_requirements for the needed software requirements.

I'm also running Debian, I can't remember getting your error with the default Debian packages

                      http://www.zabbix.com/documentation/..._web_interface

                      Step 7

Download configuration file and place it under conf/.
You need to upload te file to the correct directory on your server.
                      With kind regards,

                      Raymond
