Host Availability

Hi. I have an issue with several of my hosts having intermittent availability. They forever seem to drop in and out. All servers are running Window Server some 2008 and some 2003.

Is there any reason they would drop in and out?

please define "host availability". are you using 'status' item ?

Hi richlv, this is something I see from the Configuration/Hosts tab, the red(host unavailable) green(host available) square. The windows 2008 servers change frequently between red and green frequently (the win 2003 servers have never, yet, shown green). Also the Monitoring/dashboard page reports 'zabbix server running | No' , but I am able to see some data being collected. Do you think these two issues are related?

red/green changes - most likely hosts are unreachable for some reason. maybe server logfile provides any hints.

dashboard showing that server is not running - another issue. check that frontend can connect to the server on whatever host & port you have configured. things like selinux and grsecurity are known to prevent that as well.
