GUI and sounds still triggered for hosts in maintenance mode

We have zabbix 1.8.4 and have started using maintenance mode a fair bit recently. Whilst it works really well most of the time for what is displayed on the dashboard it doesn't seem to work for GUI notifications and sound alerts...

In particular we use .nodata(600) on the system.uptime for all of our active servers. If we put a host into maintenance mode (it seems to be either with or without data collection) and then stop the zabbix agent then after 10 mins we get a GUI alert and the disaster level sound (which is the level we have the unreachable trigger) going off. The trigger doesn't appear on the dashboard so that part is working correctly.

Is this a bug in the maintenance mode detection or do we need to tweak the GUI alerts/sounds? (I can't seem to find an option to make it not trigger off hosts in maintenance mode - the dashboard is already configured not to show hosts in maintenance)

Your Action(s) need(s) to have an extra condition:

    Maintenance status not in "maintenance"

This will prevent alarms when items are in maintenance. It also works for GUI alarms and sounds.

Surely that maintenance check is only for actions? My actions already check the maintenance status before sending emails etc.

I'm just looking at triggers which don't have the option to report on maintenance status do they?

I stand corrected. Perhaps it does not honor maintenance. I thought it would.

Ideally there needs to be an option for the gui on that to include/exclude triggers from hosts/groups in maintenance.

Perhaps it was an oversight on their part when they put that feature in the GUI.

Sounds like a bug submission and/or a feature request.
