    No email sent from Notifications

I've been asked to try and figure out why zabbix is not sending out email notifications. I've searched this forum for answers and have found none. For some reason when Events are firing the Actions aren't occurring. BTW all groups have full permissions. If you have a suggestion on why email notifications aren't being sent please let us know.

Here you can see there are no Notifications:

You can also see that in the Events there are no Actions:

I think the Actions and Triggers are setup right:

Yay! I get to be the first to respond.

I can see from your Action definitions that you don't have the condition:

    "Trigger value = PROBLEM"

Our own Actions have these, for example:

    Maintenance status not in "maintenance"
    Trigger value = "PROBLEM"
    Trigger severity >= "Average"

          checklist

          - you can send e-mails from your zabbix server (from the command prompt)
          - in Administration -> Media types, Email is configured properly and is enabled
          - in Administration -> Users, select one of the users, go to the Media tab, and verify that Email has been added, and that all values have been configured properly
          - in Configuration -> Hosts, there is at least one trigger that is enabled
          - in Configuration -> Actions -> Event source: Triggers, there is at least one action with an action condition that matches the trigger, and at least one operation that specifies that a mail should be sent to the above user or to the user group to which (s)he belongs

                Hello Karthik.L.S.

I think you are referring to the items in the Default message field. The content of that field is what will be posted in your mail body. Just keep the defaults. If the macro's can be translated, they will be. If not, you can always come back and change them.

                Perhaps an example will help:

(Image taken from our 1.8.11 server, because it's easier to capture all the info in one picture. In 2.0, the three area's are split over three tabs.)

If everything else has been configured properly, this action will send an e-mail to users in the group "Zabbix administrators" (= Action operations) whenever a trigger with severity = Disaster fires outside the maintenance windows (= Action conditions).

The mail that gets send looks like this:
                From: zabbix@xxx

                    Hello Karthik.L.S.,

You state that the action indicates that the mail is sent, but that you do not receive any mails.
At first sight, that suggests that the issue is a mail problem, rather that a zabbix issue.

Can you send a mail from your zabbix server outside of zabbix? (You never mentioned what operating system or mail client you are using.)

If not, try to find a forum which deals with your mail client and/or your operating system.

                    Kind regards,

                    Herta

                      Dear Herta,

Am using cent os 6 and logix is the mail client, bit stuck up in this.

Kindly let me know what logix mail client to do with.

Also let me know if there is any script available for the notifications.

                      Kind regards,

I really cannot get this to work either, there is some kind of magic combination of checkboxes in the action-settings that make the emails get sent and i had one working before but like the idiot i am i deleted all my actions instead of just disabling them.

action with: Trigger severity >= "Warning"

action with: Maintenance status not in "maintenance"
                          Trigger value = "PROBLEM"

action with: Maintenance status not in "maintenance"
                          Trigger value = "PROBLEM"
                          Trigger severity = "Disaster"

None of them works. I've tried adding an action to a trigger in a template, and one to a trigger in a specific host, no go.

I've tried sending the email to the zabbix admin group or just my single user, no go.

There IS a trigger that gets triggered, called "ping failed" with {HOST-TEST:icmpping[ , , , , ].last(10)}<1 as its expression and a severity of disaster, it's flashing red on my dashboard but the action says "-"

I can't belive there is not a single logfile that will tell me why my actions isn't fired, nor a button to just test if it works or not.
Unfortunately i'm stuck with 1.8.13 because it's installed through FreeBSD ports and they're not up to 2.0 yet, maybe things work better in 2.0.

Since i DID get emails before, i know that the rest of the system is set up correctly. Old mail: (i do not remember what settings i had)
                          "Trigger: testlocal-trigger
                          Trigger status: PROBLEM
                          Trigger severity: Disaster
                          Trigger URL:

                          Item values:

                          1. Ping (HOST-TEST:icmpping[ , , , , ]): 0 2. *UNKNOWN* (*UNKNOWN*:*UNKNOWN*): *UNKNOWN* 3. *UNKNOWN* (*UNKNOWN*:*UNKNOWN*): *UNKNOWN*"

                          ** edit

Actually ignore this, this morning i got emails from zabbix. Sadly it's because of low diskspace on another server, so not for the trigger i've tested.
I added the action-name in the email so i know what action gets emailed. I shall not touch anything from now on.

                          ** edit #2
I also figured out that disabling and enabling the trigger does not mean the action will occur, so whatever you test action for, make sure you test it by triggering outside of zabbix. (My ping-trigger has been active for x days, so the action would have triggered x days ago, not now.)

                              There's a checklist on https://www.zabbix.com/forum/showpos...86&postcount=5
Does your environment match that list?
