    Help with Agent

    Hi there,

Just installed Zabbix Server for the first time on Ubuntu which seemed to have gone all OK.

When i download the Agent 1.8.4 and install and point to the server through the wizard it goes OK and creates the service which starts etc.

However Zabbix Server doesnt pick it up and if i add the Host it doesnt pick it up either.

    Telnet Windows server = YES
Log files on Windows server from Agent = NO ?

    Any help greatly appreciated

Whats the version of your Agent?
Agent shell not be newer than Server...

Also remember that server and agent communicate through particular port not standard telnet, so check firewall

      Agent is 1.8.4

Have you ever configured zabbix successfully before? Asking because on the stage of connecting server with agent you have to go through bunch of steps…
sorry for this kind of question, however, I just have to know it to give you more accurate advice

Noticed this on the server log file. Could this be the issue?

You face this error because zabbix is trying to boot before you database does, however, database has to be ready before zabbix…
I had similar issue back in days and resolved it by starting zabbix server using rc.local script (OS RHEL 5.5)
                I simply added this,
                #Starting Zabbix Server
                /usr/local/sbin/zabbix_server

I believe that zabbix server is down on your server.
Make sure that your zabbix server is actually running. If so, let me know and we`ll see what else can be done to connect agent to it.

I don’t know what wiki manual looks like… and strongly recommend
                  http://www.zabbix.com/documentation/1.8/manual

                    Same Problem

                    Hi,

I am having the exact same problems as you. This is not my first time configuring a zabbix server but it has been awhile. I was also having the issue of the zabbix server not starting but even if I start the zabbix server manually it still will not hook up with the client and I can not figure out why. OP you should go into your client configuration and at the bottom add DebugLevel=4 then restart the service and check log. You will probably see "Get active checks error: *** Cannot connect to [x.x.x.x]:10051 [No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it.]" this is the error I got when the service wasn't started. From your windows machine open a command prompt and type "telnet ipaddressofyourserver 10051 or whatever your server port is and see if it works.
