how to configure ssl certificate monitoring

we are using zabbix 1.4 , we need to configure ssl certificate monitoring.We have checked one of the relevent site, we need more details on how to configure and implement ssl cert monitoring for number of sites.

Whoa. There is another forum post about that here, if you look for it.

Might I first recommend upgrading from 1.4 to 1.6 and then to 1.8? 2.0 is in alpha right now. You might not even be able to use the solution mentioned on that link with 1.4.

This solution is based on external checks that are supported by Zabbix 1.4; however, it uses a macro to define the port to check.
Since macros where not supported in Zabbix 1.4, you can either upgrade to a recent Zabbix version or modify the script to get rid of the macro.
