    zabbix ping No route to host

    Hello,
    I have an issue with the 1.8.3 release installed on Ubuntu server 11.04.
    My problem is that when I want to Ping my hosts from a map (right click on the host --> Ping) I get this error message : No route to host.
    But i can ping this host from the machine (Ubuntu server), so i've deducted that it doesn't come from my server or network configuration but from zabbix configuration, am I wrong?
    Can you help me please?

      I don't use a specific script, i've just installed zabbix, do I need a specific script?
      If there is a script installed in zabbix where can I find it (what path)?
      Thanks.

        go to Administration ---> Scripts
        you might need to change something in default ping script

          I have 2 scripts:
          Ping --> with the command /bin/ping -c 3 {HOST.CONN}
          Traceroute --> with the command /usr/bin/traceroute {HOST.CONN}

          I've checked on my server and I haven't the file ping, I think i have to use the file fping no?
          About the script Traceroute, same thing, the file traceroute doesn't exist, where can I find it??

          Thanks for your precious help.

                so, /bin/ping is exact path where your ping on your server?
                also, make sure zabbix user has permissions to ping

                  zabbix have the good rights.
                  In my zabbix-server.conf the path for ping is FpingLocation=/usr/bin/fping
                  But I also hav the file /bin/ping in my server
                  I'am lost, is it normal? they have to be the same??

                    forget about fping for a while
                    do you have ping under /bin/

                    /bin/ping -c 3 {HOST.CONN}
                    this is basically path you ping, you might have ping in different directory, it depends on which distribution of OS are you running…
                    try whereis ping command, if output doesn’t looks like ping: /bin/ping this means that you have to change path of ping in zabbix script

                        After a whereis ping, I have the good path /bin/ping
                        I forget to mention, the both ping and traceroute script doesn't work.

                          Do you see error in Web Interface (Dashboard):
                          ZABBIX SERVER IS RUNNING NO?
                          Check config file
                          /etc/zabbix/zabbix_server.conf
                          StartTrappers=1
                          ListenPort=10051
                          /var/www/html/zabbix/conf/zabbix.conf.php
                          $ZBX_SERVER_PORT = "10051";
                          $ZBX_SERVER = "10.14.1.16";

                          Check PORT Zabbix Trappers and IP ZBX_SERVER. Do your zabbix_server listen port Zabbix Trappers TCP 10051?
                          P.S. ping and traceroute work via Zabbix Trappers on zabbix_server. It is very important if web interface Zabbix and process zabbix_server run on different hosts.

                            Yes I see ZABBIX SERVER IS RUNNING NO.
                            I change this like you said:

                            /etc/zabbix/zabbix_server.conf
                            StartTrappers=1
                            ListenPort=10051

                            But I don't find this file, impossible to find this file with the whereis command /var/www/html/zabbix/conf/zabbix.conf.php

                              Now i’m asking yourself precisely how this will work when it leaves enter board — whether or not it’s actual or perhaps psychological — and it is confronted by tangible scenarios. No doubt about it, it sounds fantastic on paper.|Actually less realize your degree let alone trading a week inside content spinning it around to view how does that sense. Probably most turn into lovers when they merely provided this a while.
