Zabbix trapper items over zabbix_proxy

I have a host being monitored via zabbix_proxy. There are several items that are of type Zabbix Trapper. When these items are collected by the zabbix_proxy it seems that everything is fine, but when the zabbix_proxy sends the information to the zabbix_server (those apps reside in different hosts), the zabbix_server refuses the items.
If I monitor the host directly from the zabbix_server (i.e no proxy in between), the items are accepted as well.
I'm using zabbix_* version 1.8.3 on RedHat.

Looks like clearing the proxy db is the trick. I recreated the DB, restarted both proxy and server and it started to work.
