Cannot link trigger to it-service in 1.8.5

Since we upgraded to 1.8.5, it is not possible to link a trigger to an it-service.
After selecting a trigger in the add-service window, the field trigger remains empty and the new service cannot be made.
Is this a bug or are we doing something wrong ?

I know this is an old thread but today I encountered the same error on Ubuntu oneiric.

In my case it seems the Prototype JavaScript framework is the culprit.
Version 1.7.0 was installed by default but by replacing the symlink with prototype.js version 1.6.1 all seems to be working OK!
