pb trigger and notification during maintenance

Hi all,
I'm fench so my english is not perfectly.
My problem ; I make a maintenance on the "server A" at 5PM to 6PM for example, and if the server stay shutdown until 8PM, i have not received any notification by mail.

which zabbix version ? do notifications work ok if problems happen outside maintenance period ?

i'd suggest trying 1.8.7, i recall there being some improvements regarding maintenance
