    Help!!! Zabbix uses fping6

    Dear all,

    I'm newbie on zabbix. I add item to check host status with icmpping.

    I show log :

    "fping6: Address family for hostname not supported"

    It means zabbix use fping6 instead of fping.

    How to force zabbix to use fping (ipv4).

    Thanks

    When I tried to patch fping to support the -S option, I ran into problems, mainly with the compiled binary only supporting IPv6 addresses. So, the patch would apply correctly and fping would build and install fine, but then I would get the message "fping: Address family for hostname not supported".

    What I ended up doing was grabbing the following patch:

    Code:
    [URL="http://www.version6.net/patches/fping-2.4b2-src.dif"]http://www.version6.net/patches/fping-2.4b2-src.dif[/URL]
    and then applying that to the source found here:

    Code:
    [URL="http://web.archive.org/web/20020212025025/http://www.fping.com/download/fping-2.4b2_to.tar.gz"]http://web.archive.org/web/20020212025025/http://www.fping.com/download/fping-2.4b2_to.tar.gz[/URL]
    So, you might do something like:

    Code:
    wget http://www.version6.net/patches/fping-2.4b2-src.dif
    wget http://web.archive.org/web/20020212025025/http://www.fping.com/download/fping-2.4b2_to.tar.gz
    tar xvzf fping-2.4b2_to.tar.gz
    cd fping-2.4b2_to
    patch -i ../fping-2.4b2-src.dif
    ./configure
    make
    make install
    I hope this helps.
