    gaps in interface traffic graphs

    Hi,

I recently upgraded my zabbix server from 1.8.3 to 1.8.8. After the update everything seems ok, except one single graph.

This graph shows our main traffic on a juniper switch and after the upgrade it started to show gaps.

The current Item configuration is like this:

    (tried both snmpv1/v2)
    SNMP OID: IF-MIB::ifOutOctets["index","ifDescr","xe-3/0/1"]
    Type of information: Numeric(Float)
    Units: Bps
    Use custom multiplier: 8
Update interval (in sec): 15 (tried different intervals up to 60 secs)
Flexible intervals (sec) No flexible intervals
Store value: Delta (Speed per second)

Rolling back to 1.8.3 didn't help. My traffic pattern is completely different now.

Any suggestins to resolve/debug this issue?

    Best Regards.

Gaps in graphs can indicate zabbix performance problems: Try look at these links:
In the past, quite often Zabbix users have been puzzled regarding some server tuning parameters – for example, how many pollers do they need? It was usually determined based on experience, testing and a bit of guesstimating. No more fuzzy attempts – get hard facts with Zabbix 1.8.5. UPDATED 2011.11.02: new downloadable template version v2 […]

Or maybe you snmp device respond to slow – try to check the zabbix server log.

      Thank you for your response.

Monitoring ifHCOutOctets instead of ifOutOctets seems to do the trick.
