    1.1 Alpha 4 zabbix_server

Hi, to start, what an outstanding product! I've worked with many high end windows products and they do not compare to the potential of Zabbix..I'll definetely be employing Zabbix in my production enviroment once I familiarize myself completely with it..
I'm no authority on linux, so please bear with me. (Raised on Windows but converting)...
    Platform: Mandrake 10.1

Problem is I downloaded 1.1 A4 and followed instructions for installation, but there was no zabbix_server.conf or process to be found. I proceeded to download 1.1 A3 after several attempts at A4 and the zabbix_server service was present in A3 but did not create a zabbix dir under etc..I created myself and now have 1.1 A3 working it appears, but should i just upgrade to 1.1 A4 now or is there something missing in that release or is it me..lol

    Thanks

    Welcome to the Forums!

Sample zabbix_server.conf can be found under misc/conv. If you're upgrading, just copy (or better move) zabbix_suckerd.conf to zabbix_server.conf to preserve system settings.

      Still no zabbix_server process in 1.1 A4

here is the contents of 1.1 A4 after compiling
      zabbix_trapper
      ''_sucker
      ''_snmptrapper
      ''_sender
      ''_agent_win32
      ''_agent
      - - contents of src directory once uncompressed, all compiled to bin directory once compiled.

There is no zabbix_server to be found as stated in docs..Again if i am doing something wrong let me know, but when i compiled 1.1 A3 the zabbix_server process exists.

      Thanks for your patience

        Thanks to whoever

I downloaded 1.1 4A one more time just a few min ago, and baddaboom, it's now the correct version complete with Zabbix_server service and conf..So many thanks to whoever resolved this, but it would help tremendously if someone would have posted that the change had been made..

But nonetheless it is very much appreciated.

No changes has been made to the original release of ZABBIX v1.1alpha4. If there are any changes I increase version number.

            simple mistunderstanding

What appears to have happened was the download link for 1.1 4a was pointing to an earlier version as I attempted several downloads of the 1.1 A4 yesterday and none except for 1.1 A3 included zabbix_server service,,,,but today i redownloaded 1.1 4A again and this time was the correct version...

Not an issue at all, and we have 1.1 A4 installed and operational, working out a few things, but hats off to the developer (s). Once we have this up and running smoothly and ready for production, we will be making a contribution as it is well worth it!!!

            Thanks for the support
