1.8.8 : Period for externalscripts not working when less than 300

I am using the OpenSuse virtual machine for Vmware from Zabbix. I have some items that have a period of 60 seconds. However, the items are getting checked at intervals of 5 minutes (300 seconds). Is this a new change/feature in 1.8.8. Things were working fine for me in 1.8.3.

Also, if the externalscript takes a few seconds to run, the server times out. Is this also another change in 1.8.8?

the second part, since 1.8.3, yes. before that, external checks would never timeout, which was a huge problem - that's been fixed now.

as for the first, not completely sure. if you said "10 minutes", that would give me a guess - item would timeout and then be checked again after the interval for unsupported items - but that's 10 minutes, not 5 (by default - maybe you have modified that ?)
