    House Keeper Processes 100%

We are running Zabbix 1.8.6 with a postgres database and currently having some performance issues.

I enabled the Zabbix internal template and I noticed that the Zabbix busy housekeeper processes are constantly at 100%.

Has any seen this before or does anyone have any recommendations to help fix the housekeeping process?

    Thanks!

I am not expert on this but maybe your database is (too) big"? You may need to do some database partitioning or maybe you can change the housekeeper settings - in zabbix_server.conf file. Also try to do some search in the forum on housekeeper.

This is about mysql size but may help you:

not sure if this helps but documentation recommends housekeeping frequency set to 24 for postgresql db.

      Parameter: HousekeepingFrequency

      Mandatory: no

      Range: 1-24

      Default: 1

      Description:
How often Zabbix will perform housekeeping procedure (in hours).
Housekeeping is removing unnecessary information from history, alert, and alarms tables.
If PostgreSQL is used, suggested value is 24, as it performs VACUUM.

        Hi,

we are having the same issue. Is setting "HousekeepingFrequency=24" still valid for version 2.0 of zabbix if one uses postgres ?

        thanks

We are also having this issue, and would like to know if the setting housekeeping to once per 24 hours is recommended for 2.0.2.

no, that is absolutely not suggested. the information about 24 hours was relevant for postgresql < 8.3 (old)

Yes, thanks. What are the best settings for the housekeeping parameters in zabbix_server.conf for a postgres db for a large Zabbix installtion? We are running 150 hosts with 27,000 items on our test system, and the busy housekeeper % has been 100% for over 24 hours. Please see attached plots.

                [Edit]

This is with HousekeepingFrequency=24 and MaxHousekeeperDelete=0, by the way. Previously we were using the defaults HousekeepingFrequency=1 and MaxHousekeeperDelete=500, which caused the same problem.
