Problems at startup from Zabbix-Server and Agentd

    Hello again,

i have one problem more with Zabbix.
When i want to start the Zabbix-Server or Agentd, I get the message Permission denied, but i am logged on as root.

I do all my configuration with the root-user, so i think i can start the 2 services as root, cause the root have all permissions! ISN'T IT ?!

    Best Regards,
    Zitrone

    Hello zitrone,

Until I know, the zabbix_server and zabbix_agentd are bloqued to run with super users. Try run them with zabbix user.

    See manual pages for details.

    Hope could help.

    Regards.

Why the are blocked to run with the root-user?!
The root is the owner of the system and cant start his services? Come on, security is good but its a little bit to much.

How can I change that my rootuser can start the zabbix_server and zabbix_agentd?

Try to give permissions on startup files: chmod 755 /etc/init.d/zabbix_*

Perhaps this error message refer to zabbix.conf.php file.

                Friend,

I'm not an zabbix expert, I'm only a common user like any other but I already have seen the manual saying that you cannot run with super users like I said before. I believe that no matter you question that fact this behavior will not change.

Take a look at the manual pages, instalation area. I'll suggest you consider to run with another user even this one having super user privileges.

                Regards.
