[ERROR] unable to find mysql.h

Hello,

When I did try to install ZABBIX 1.0 (the stable release) I did got the error shown below:

checking for MySQL support... no
configure: error: Invalid MySQL directory - unable to find mysql.h
server2:/home/quicki/public_html/zabbix-1.0#

OS: Debian 3.1 (net install)
Control panel: DirectAdmin
Other sites work fine with MySQL

Could anybody tell me how I can solve this problem?

Reinstalling PHP or MySQL is not an option.

you need the mysql development files installed.

if they are, and it still cant find it, run ./configure --help and look for how to point it at the right directory.

Where can I find if I have the development files installed?

I'm not really a debian guy but I believe you can use the "apt" utility to query your packages

The reason is that the server is also used for webhosting.

nobody said to reinstall php or mysql.

I said you need the dev libraries

you asked how to look for them, I told you to use apt. what's the issue?

Indeed, just type:

apt-get install mysql-devel

and you'll get the required files.
