problem with migration zabbix from version 1.1beta6 to 1.1beta9

    Hi,

i'm running one zabbix server with version 1.1beta6. Now i want change to 1.1beta9 because there are some important changes for me.
At first i have do the migration on a test server. The installation of the new version works fine, but i have still problems with the existing templates.
With the old version, i have only two templates. I have created this templates by myself. After the migration the hosts does not use the templates. How can i fix this problem? Okay, i can manually change every host but you have to know that i have more than 1300 host running on this server, so this would take a lot of time. I need another way to change this.

    Please tell your ideas.

you could put your hosts into a group and then apply your template to the group. All the Items, if the are not invisible!!!!, should then be setup against your hosts.

My apologies That is for Items....duh!

Atfer looking at it I think the only way you could do it would be to create a group or groups containing you selected servers (should be able to be memebers of multiple groups) and then select your items applying them to specific groups.

    server 1 is a webserver runing RHEL4
server 1 is a member of webserver group and redhat group
webserver group has Item http monitor
redhat group has Item passwd chksum monitor
servers 1 therefore has both Item http monitor and Item passwd chksum monitor

you would have to create the group heirarchy first then apply the Items though...

this would mean you are always working with small subsets of monitors which you can re-use easily rather than large unwieldy templates....

If it does not work like that then it should ...

applying Templates easily to groups would help...not sure if this is possible though
