    host.unix and host.snmp

Having installed from fresh....cleaned out htdocs, cleaned out and reconfigured MySQL etc I have re-installed from scratch 1.1beta9 again...

and still Host.Unix and Host.SNMP do not show any Item. This is oviously a major problem as they cannot be edited, no new Items can be added to these Templates either. The Items do exist but they do not appear.

    any/all ideas accepted

this is on 1.1beta9 on CentOS4.2
I hav since rolled it back to 1.1beta8 and the same issue is present.
1.1beta7 which I was running looks fine. Unfortunately the functionality I need is only operational from 1.1beta8...typical!

I'm running 1.1beta8 grabber and I can see items for host.unix and host.snmp

these are the only two hosts you're having issues with? I would clean out and reload the database if that's an option.

    edit: Oh, you did that.

well I should probably note that I ran the database upgrade scripts to get to my current schema.. Which means these items and hostids existed in the db prior to me getting to 1.1beta8 mabye there's a problem with the inital db creation script for fresh installs?

      Thanks for replying elkor...

I have redone the db about 4 time now switching between 1.1beta8 and 1.1beta9 beta7 worked fine. The Items are present in the DB as I had configured up a number of hosts in my first attempt and I could see data coming in. I just could not view the Items and hence edit them.

Perhaps you have multiple databases installed and ZABBIX frontend points to something old.

These are the only 2 Templates that show this and any hosts associated with those templates...it is also possible to add new Items to both teh templates and the hosts but these too fail to show up.

              nope

I totally cleaned out the MySQL data directories each time. I also cleaned out the /var/www/html/zabbix folder and recompiled.

If I go into the database I can see the Items, If I configure a client to use the templates I can go in to "latest Data" and see the data fo rthe Templates Items...they are just not showing up in the Items page!

try this from the command line:

                Code:
                echo "select i.itemid, i.status, i.key_ from items i, hosts h where h.host = \"host.unix\" and i.hostid = h.hostid" | mysql -u user -p databasename
of course replacing user and databasename appropriately. this is essentially what the frontend does to populate the list.

Try to increase memory_limit in php.ini. Something is very wrong as I do not see page footers in two of your screenshots.

It was set at 8M I set it to 16M and that seemed to fix it.

Thanks to you and elkor for your help....

I suppose it is one for the FYI...I am using the bog standard RHEL4 update2 RPMS

there is nothing else running on this box other than what is needed for zabbix.

you're probably right, it should be in the faq.

although you are using a lot of memory for php, while I did bump mine.. I didn't need to do so until I made some really large maps for the overhead displays.

I figured that as well but there is nothing configured in zabbix just now....it is completely fresh, and there is nothing else running on that box that uses php...

PHP memory usage grew significantly since we moved to OOP model. I'm pretty sure we will redesign the model to address high usage of CPU/memory resources.
