Zabbix 2.0 in gui snmp host cannot connect

    Hello,
We installed Zabbix 2.0 on Debian (Linux zabbix 2.6.32-5-amd64.

Works great but snmp is not working from the gui. From the command line I can do a snmpget and snmptwalk.

I compiled the zabbix server as described in :

    ./configure --enable-server --enable-agent --with-mysql --enable-ipv6 --with-net-snmp --with-libcurl

I read several post but not the solution...

Error in Zabbix web gui : snmp interface on host could not connect.
On command line I get loads of info from unit

    Anyone?

check that all your snmp items pour that host are set to the correct community (or using a macro) ...

can you show your item configuration ?

you should try with the numeric OID
        (as returned by snmpget -On)...

if it works, that means zabbix server didn't find the MIB. or hasn't been restarted since you added the MIB.

          #5
snmptranslate -m +NETASQ-PROPERTY-MIB -IR -On ntqProductProperty
          .1.3.6.1.4.1.11256.1.0

          I changed it to oid

Its green (Connected) for 5 minutes... Now its red again...

The status of the item changed to not supported

            meh...
unfortunately, the only thing left is to try to find something in the logs...

You may have to change the debug level to 4 in your server config file,
restart the server, and try to dig something interesting in the verbose logs ...
don't forget to set the debuglevel back...

            good luck ...

              I'm afraid you are right!

I see a lot of errors in /tmp/zabbix_server.log:

snmp_build: unknown failure 10082:20120609:090231.634 temporarily disabling SNMP checks on host [U70]: host unavailable
              snmp_build: unknown failuresnmp_build:

snmp_build: unknown failure 10082:20120609:090211.623 SNMP item [.1.3.6.1.4.1.11256.1.8.1.1.4.1] on host [U70] failed: another network error, wait for 15 seconds

              rebuild snmp?

                It works.
I checked the log files of my zabbix server and had to change the path of fping in the zabbix_server.conf. But that was not the cause of snmp not working.

In the log there where a lot of snmp related errors.

I do not no for sure the cause of solution, but I did the following:
did a lot snmpwalk and snmpget on cli for testing
I copied the mibs I needed to the default mib directory (/usr/share/mibs/netsnmp) of the zabbix server

I did a reboot to be sure for the changes in the server.conf.

Suddenly snmp works!! And still working!

                Thanx everybody

                  Glad you made it work...

if the problem was really missing mib files , the errors in the gui and the log are not very explicit :-/
