multiple templates with same application

Hi,

I currently set up a new monitoring infrastructure with the new zabbix 2.0 release. I would like to link multiple templates to the same host which have both an application "General". But I get following error:

Template with application "General" already linked to host.

Is this a bug or a feature? I think this is a bug in the webinterface.

Does it give a way to add multiple templates with the same application to the same host?

It has been that way forever.

Don't know why they don't just make a dropdown master list of applications, to where you can select whatever you like, but that's the way it is.

I thought this was to be fixed in 2.0

I just compiled, installed, and configured Zabbix 2.0 on a fresh box. I was surprised to see this this old and longstanding problem:

Template with application "Availability" already linked to host.

I read somewhere in the forum this was to be fixed in 2.0 but apparently not. I have been patching my 1.x series to allow this, is there a patch for 2.x yet?

So what is the real problem with multiple "Applications", which in my view only serve to categorize the items on the Latest Data page. Is there more to this than that?

You can also use the applications under Actions - Action conditions.
I suppose there is a bug/feature report on this - maybe there is more info.
