Best way to upgrade/migrate Zabbix 1.8 to 2.0

What is the best and most failproof way to get a 1.8.2 enviroment to 2.0?

I tried the documented way, but the upgrade script ended up with some SQL errors here and there and I needed to restore and revert.

Is it possible to install a fresh 2.0, and mysqldump from 1.8.x and simply import it?

Any thoughts?

Did you get this error (ZBX-5125)? If so, doing what is said there helped me.
About upgrading: updating takes a looooong time, so IMO it's best to do the update on a separate database, so normal monitoring isn't hindered.
