problems with zabbix agents 2.0.3

I migrated to 2.0.3 a few days ago. The server side seems to work fine, but I'm having problems with the agents.

As previously reported (topic "program counter not available for this architecture"), the solaris agents won't even start. (FWIIW, this is Solaris Sparc 10u9.)

The windows agents looked alright, but I soon ran into "Zabbix poller processes more than 75% busy" issues. So I decided to change most items from the default "Zabbix agent" to "Zabbix agent (active)". But as soon as I did that, I got no more new data for the majority of the servers.
Restarting zabbix server and agents did not resolve the issue.

I don't understand why 4 of the 2.0.3 agents seem to work properly, while 15 of them do not. We have a mix of 32-bit and 64-bit Windows 2003 en 2008R2 servers, but I see no difference between the ones that do work and those that don't.

Anyone any clue?

So you are running Zabbix server and agents at 2.0.3 level?
I am not having any issues with them.

As far as using Zabbix agent (active), you have to be sure the HostName= value in your agent configs match what is in the Zabbix frontend.

Yes, I'm running Zabbix Server 2.0.3 and most of the Windows Servers also are 2.0.3. (I still need to migrate a few which are still on 2.0.2.) The Solaris agents have been downgraded to 2.0.0, because the 2.0.3 versions wouldn't start.

I don't think the config file is the problem.

I changed the items of the windows template back to type "zabbix agent", and everything looks fine again. (After I increased the number of pollers.)

Do you have items of type "Zabbix agent (active)"?

To downgrade the Solaris agents, I just overwrote the binaries. The config file is still the same.

Just a guess, but I would double check your config files.

The configuration for active checks changed with 2.x and if you still are trying to use a configuration file from 1.8, the active checks will just stop working like you described.

Look for....

ServerActive=<zabbix server>
Hostname=<hostname>
