Status of Zabbix on Dashboard is False Positive

After an initial, fresh install of Zabbix, using the following specs:
    CentOS 6.3
    MySQL 5.1.61
    Zabbix Server v2.0.2 (revision 29214) (31 July 2012)
    Apache 2.2.15
    PHP 5.3.3

Everything is up and running fine...local agent is polling...remote agents are being polled, data is being polled/collected...active checks...agent based checks...discovery and snmp based checks are all working fine...up to the minute...accurate.

The problem is the Zabbix Dashboard "Status of Zabbix" field of "Zabbix Server is running" value is always "No" and the red banner keeps flashing at the top of the page saying Zabbix Server is not running.

Zabbix Server is most certainly running, but whenever the Dashboard refreshes and queries the database it retrieves a field that isn't being updated....or is being updated with a value that would suggest that zabbix server isnt running. I cant find anything in the forums on this..and though i am continuing to look, thought i would ask you all for some direction on where else I might look.

    Recap:
Zabbix server is running just fine as far as I can tell, however Zabbix Dashboard status field "Zabbix server is running" reports Zabbix server is not running and I am trying to understand what produces that value and why it isnt correct.

    Thanks!

    Hi
Two option you have to check:

    1. Probably you don't understand SELinux (you didn't restore context after fronted installation) so, disable SELInux at all.

    2. Check if there is listening socket on port 10051 on your zabbix server.

    Bests,
    Grzegorz

      Problem solved..thank you

Thanks for your reply, you are exactly correct. That was the problem, SELinux was enabled and causing the status to show as not running because the gui couldnt connect to the trapper port.

SELinux enforcement also caused script execution from map elements to fail.
