    Zabbix on Suse Linux 10.0

    Hi all,
I try to install Zabbix for a project work on my university. Because my client, i386, runs Suse Linux 10.0 I tryed to compile zabbix for this system. Unfortunately I can't fix it since hours and hours.

The problem is that I get neither net-snmp nor ucd-snmp running and so no zabbix running.

Has anybody ever fixed to compile zabbix on a Suse Linux machine?
Which distribution/ operating system do you recommend? Have you any hints for me?

    Best regrads,

    no-snmp

zabbix will compile fine without snmp support. Try that and see if you can make it go. work on the snmp stuff later.

I have compiled zabbix under debian, redhat, and slackware. both with and without snmp support.

On a ease of use / user friendly scale (where 10 is for the clueless and 1 for the guru) I would personally rate them as follows:

    debian: 6
    Redhat: 5
    slackware: 3

Please note that most of MY systems are slackware (where MY <> work|kid|wife).

you have to reinstall the net-snmp package from project HP, then it works. i currently run it on suse 10 with more than 500 Hosts monitoring.

I use SuSE 10.0 too. And i monitor more than 1300 router.

Use the following link to search for devel source of net-snmp and it should work for you. Please check after installing the zabbix, the php.ini file. I have to change on path. If you have any questions plz report.

        Regards,

Thanks a lot for all your hints. The problem was that when i wanted to install net-snmp from the sourceforge site, it want to have several different packages like becrypt and others.

A student advised me to change the OS to debian, there i got zabbix working. I guess that this is not realted to suse linux but to my know-how on linux.

Again thanks for all your advices
