Log monitoring in 1.1beta11 does'nt seems to work?

I've added an item:
Type: Zabbix Agent
Key: log[/var/log/messages]
Typ of information: Log
Status: Monitored

When i look at " Latest data" i only get a dash -?
After a while it goes into "Unsupported state"

Found this in zabbix_server.log:
Parameter [log[/var/log/messages]] is not supported by agent on host [localhost] Old status [0]

run on client machine
$ zabbix_agent -p

it's print all supported metriks
