    SNMP Windows Services Monitoring

    Hello
I'm using Zabbix to monitor Windows Services via SNMP.
I can't use other agents by the reason.

So when the service is running its oids exist in SNMP.
For example, we have "1.3.6.1.4.1.77.1.2.3.1.1.13.87.105.110.100.111.11 9.115.32.65.117.100.105.111" for Windows Audio service name.
But when I stop the service all its oids disappear. I mean the upper oid and all other oids associated with this Windows service (installed-state, operational-state oids etc.).

Unfortunately the trigger works fine when the oid exist and returns nothing when it's not. It writes something about "SNMP error. There is no such variable in this MIB" and won't trigger any action (e-mail notification).

Is there any way to monitor the EXISTENCE of OID in SNMP?
Or maybe there is another solution except any other agent installation?

    Thank you for helping!

    Hi choresman,

Were you able to monitor windows services? If I may ask, how did you go about accomplishing such. I'm planning to implement also the same thing and no zabbix agent is allowed to be installed.

Would it be possible for you to point me at the right documentation of your setup. Hope to hear from you soon.
    Thank you.

Only snmp traps come to mind...
If the events that you need are in the event log, you can use evntwin.exe for converting them to traps and send via snmp in Zabbix.

        Hi Heilig,

May I know if you were successful with this implementation? Could you be so kind to help me, in finding the right documentation in doing so?

I've tried SNMPTT but I wasn't successful, are there any other Traps Translator that youknow of?

I had the experience of working with SNMP. We looked for how to take non-standard metrics from our windows servers. Were tested evntwin.exe, but the metrics have been very specific and evntwin didn't know "about them". Then our developers had to write for us an extension to the standard windows snmp agent (custom mib, dll, etc).
So, in this issue for more detail I can nothing to say. (
