    Using SNMP *VALUE* with snmp.discovery?

    I have a few particular devices on my campus network that are oddballs (Wireless Controller)...

    So I configured my controller with low level discovery and bam! It loaded all of my items... Which is cool.

    My question is this: Is there any way to use the SNMP Values that are returned?

    IE: I have an snmp oid that tells me the number of users connected to a device... I can poll the device at snmp.oid.{#SNMPINDEX} and get the value...

    So now I have 300 items in my list that say "Connected Users on <correct index here> ...

    I have another OID that I could use to get the name... from it... Is there anyway I could populate another variable or something so that I can get "Connected users on OfficeAP1"?

    If that is clear as mud, I can draw out a pic and do screen shots and such...

    Thanks!

    IF-MIB::ifAlias in discovery rule?

    Not entirely sure, but in you may wish to try specifying IF-MIB::ifAlias as SNMP OID in the Discovery rule instead of IF-MIB::ifDescr

      Hey Herta,

      Thanks for the heads up. I actually found that was the solution! I forgot to post it back here, so thanks for the reminder!
