Zabbix 2.0.5 on Ubuntu 12.04.2 problem

Im trying to setup Zabbix 2.0.5 on Ubuntu Server 12.04.2 (amd64).

I have followed the installation guide at: http://library.linode.com/server-mon...install-zabbix.

I've started zabbix_server and zabbix_agent deamon (status: running) , but when i access the php frontend it says that zabbix_server on TCP 10051 is not running.

When i do:
netstat -tln

Active Internet connections (only servers)
Proto Recv-Q Send-Q Local Address Foreign Address State
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:80 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:22 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:10050 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 127.0.0.1:3306 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
tcp6 0 0 :::22 :::* LISTEN


The tcp/10051 port is not open???

I have added the zabbix TCP/UDP ports in /etc/services and rebooted.

Any ideas ?

I have the same problems as you, same operating system.
I hope to get some help ... but I saw you already got redirected from the support site however without any proper help.

Maybe you got any further already?

2.0.4 worked without any problem on the same system.

adding the mysql password password in:

/usr/local/etc/zabbix_server.conf

helped for me.

It's marked as not mandatory, but apperently it is mandatory if your mysql server has a password set (which it normally always has).

After adding and restarting everything is working as expected.
