Agent cannot assign requested address

Releated to this https://www.zabbix.com/forum/showthread.php?t=27273 manual How-To install Agent on Ubuntu 12.04 I get an error in the zabbix_agentd.log:

where the IP is the public internet-facing ip of the zabbix agent client.
The Port 10050 is open for everything incoming.
Please can you help me?

Is there something already listening on port 10050? Are you certain that the IP you told zabbix to use is actually bound on the server (and isn't simply an address a firewall listens on and then NATs to a private IP)
