str() trigger for text item not working (Zabbix 1.1)

I am trying to use a trigger to match for a string but the trigger never changes state from UNKNOWN. Here is the item I have created:

Description: SNMP_Trapper_Item
Type: ZABBIX trapper
key: snmptrapkey
Type of Information: text
Status: Monitored

Here is my trigger expression: {SNMP_Trapper:snmptrapkey.str(hello)}=0

Here is what I see in the history under latest data:

Timestamp Value
2006.Jun.12 10:21:25 hello

In the zabbix log I get the following:

035714:20060612:102125 Evaluation of expression [{11256}=0] failed [Unable to get value for functionid [11256]]
035714:20060612:102125 Expression [{11256}=0] cannot be evaluated [Unable to get value for functionid [11256]]

Any ideas? Am I missing something or is there a problem with the str() function?

still no triggers for snmptrap data

I still have not found a way to setup triggers based on SNMP traps. I have the traps coming into zabbix just fine but I would like to setup triggers and then actions based on the trap messages.

Anyone have any ideas?

First off, I had to make my type:character. I beleive I compared to value one.
ie {SNMP_Trapper:snmptrapkey.str(hello)}=1

Thanks very much for the followup. I had my item type set to string previously and when I changed to character the triggers started working. I also changed them to compare with 1 instead of 0.

Reset a TRAP trigger

By following the suggestions in this forum, and tweaking a few things on my own, I am successfully monitoring SNMP traps, and triggering notifications from them.

Does anyone know how to clear / reset the trigger after it is acknowledged? The lsat value is still true, since the item is a trap, not polled. Therefore, my trigger never goes away.

I'm using Zabbix 1.1

it should be possible to disable them after some period of time - though that is not the best solution.
