Zabbix Templates becoming Hosts

We are currently running Zabbix 1.8.14 and we have noticed that recently a number of our Templates have decided to convert themselves to Hosts and no longer work as Templates. This is starting to become a problem as we are now finding things that we thought were monitored are no longer monitored.

Any thoughts as to what the problem could be or where I could start investigation? There doesn't seem to be any link between the Templates

Hmm It's quite strange. Do you have some facts about it? Maybe screenshot of template who become host(in both state)?
And I recommend to update to 1.8.16 and check again.

I'll speak to the higher ups about the upgrade, in the mean time I have a screenshot.

We have a group within the templates section called Templates, in which we store all the templates, so under Hosts the group Templates now shows the attached (some names of templates removed due to privacy)

Are you saying you have a sub-group of templates under group templates? Why are you doing it that way instead of simply keeping them in the original templates group?

Or am I not understanding how you are doing it?
