5 Items of 1 agent in the queue since 3 days

    Hi all,

I have an agent on a Windows 2003 server which doesn't give me the recent data for 5 items (Version of zabbix_agent(d) running, Host name of zabbix_agentd running, Total swap space, System information and Total memory), all other items are refreshed. When I look in the queue I see that those items are in there and are 3 days old. All other items for that server are refreshed and are also not in the queue. Has anyone ever seen this and how can I troubleshoot this? I have restarted both the 2003 server and the Zabbix server and I have also upgraded the agent from 2.0.4 to 2.0.6, but both versions have the same problem...
I have Zabbix 2.0.6 installed on Ubuntu Server 12.04 LTS and all agents have 2.0.6 as version number. Apart from this particular 2003 server all other servers (appr. 20) are reporting fine...

Are the items the type of Zabbix Agent (Active), or passive?
Do you have the correct agent installed? (32bit vs 64bit)

      Hi tchjts1,

      Thank you for your reply.
Our agents are all passive agents and we use the correct version (in this case 32 bits) of the agent...
Strange thing is that all other values for this server/agent are updated frequently, but those 5 values are hanging in the queue for sometimes days and then all of a sudden a value "slips through" (last night at 2:30 the server reported the version of the agent back) and then the next poll will be in the queue for hours/days...
All other values are updated correctly for this server...

Take a look at your zabbix_server.log and do a search on the hostname (or IP) of that particular server. See if there are any indications there of what the issue might be.

If it is showing a lot of network errors where it states "retrying in 15 seconds", then I would bump up the Timeout= value both on the host in zabbix_agentd.conf and on the Zabbix server in zabbix_server.conf. By default these are set to 3 seconds. Might try them at 10 seconds. If you make changes to those, you have to restart the Zabbix service and the Zabbix server process.

          Hi tchjts1,

          Thanks again for your reply.
I changed the settings in both the zabbix_server.conf and zabbix_agent.conf and after restarting both and waiting some time, everything seems to be working fine again!!
I changed it to 10 by the way.

          Thanks mate!
